March 2026 – More on Bond Measure
On Tuesday evening, March 17, the Council will have a special meeting focused on whether they want to go ahead with an infrastructure bond measure on the November ballot. The good news is that initial polling of a sample of Berkeley voters suggested 72% would be likely to vote for issuing $300 million in bonds for a list of 35 projects. The amounts proposed for the Civic Center are: $6.7M for Shirek Building/Old City Hall, $13.9M for the Veterans Building, both for seismic work, “Phase 1 Renovation.” A FEMA grant proposal has been submitted, for which this would serve as matching funds.
